The movie where Angelina Jolie had a fully animated character is the 2007 Beowulf 3D film. Let’s no longer have any further introduction about her since she’s already too popular that almost everyone knew her.
So on this post, let’s talk more about her interview with her role and reactions to her computer-generated counterpart.
Grendel’s Mother
Angelina Jolie’s role on this animated movie was one powerful antagonist who remained alive until the end of the film. In short, she won at seeking revenge for his fallen son against the hero, Beowulf who was responsible for slaying Grendel.
Unlike from the original poem, Grendel’s mother was too strong enough for Beowulf where he claimed that it requires “an army in order to defeat” her. It was like saying the same thing as he already lost and ready to die.
But, the mother didn’t. Instead, she made a deal with the slayer all just for the purpose of full filling her sweet revenge.
Accepting her role
Before Angelina Jolie took the role, all she knew was that, she’s going to be a lizard.
I myself find it hard to imagine turning a beautiful women into one scary lizard monster. So in my own opinion, Angelina Jolie probably had a deep thought of possibly rejecting her role.
Bob must had noticed Angelina Jolie’s lack of perception about her character to she took her into the room filled with pictures and sketches. There she saw some examples of how she will going to look like.
According to her, she saw a women half painted with gold and a lizard.
If you have already watched the movie, Angelina Jolie’s animated character had some kind of gold substance dripping on her body especially on the parts that must not be seen by young viewers. She also has the ability to shape-shift into a one giant snake.
Filming her role
Did you know that Angelina Jolie was three months pregnant when she took the role and filmed?
I really admire her where she still managed to work even at a state like that. Anyway, she claimed that her work really didn’t involve so much effort.
It only took over two days to complete her role.
Not really an animation
Angelina Jolie’s experience with the 2007 Beowulf movie made her more inspired to do more similar films. The reason is that, she can’t consider the film as an animation because everything they did involves their physical actions such as their gestures and even down to just minor details such as the way how their eyeballs move.
Felt exposed
After the animated movie was completed, Angelina Jolie claimed that she felt exposed and a little shy about the outcome of the film. She never expected that the animation was too real.
The original poem
When she was asked about the original poem if she already read it, Angelina Jolie claimed that she did but that was already a few years ago. The main reason why she can’t hardly remember it. She even made a joke that she fell half asleep when she read it before.
But, she can still remember the main theme because she consider it as one of the great amazing stories around that she cannot easily forget.
Conclusion
Angelina Jolie did great on her role of portraying Grendel’s mother. Since she is one my favorite celebrity, I was always scared at the part of the movie when she faces Beowulf.
I really do not want to see her to get hurt even on that kind of role. Gladly, she didn’t which gave me a good sigh of relief.
